Lee Hyo Ri’s contract with Vidal Sassoon as its image model was extended for another year. To kick-off things, this month, Vidal Sassoon releases its Summer Hair Collection that features Lee Hyo Ri’s summer look.
Clazziquai is performing on the eve of “ETPFEST 2008,” which is scheduled on August 15. The festival will also be Seo Tae Ji’s comeback stage after years away from the limelight.
According to Clazziquai, it respects so much Seo Tae Ji, who created the rock festival, that agreeing to perform on August 14 at the Jamsil ballpark was a no-brainer.
“It’s been a long time since Clazziquai was seen together in one event,” the group added. Its 2 members, Horan and Alex, are pursuing solo careers at the moment.
According to Kumyoung, Karaoke machine manufacturer and music contents provider, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon’s “If,” which is included in the OST of the KBS series “Hong Gil Dong, the Hero,” was the most sung Karaoke song in the first half of 2008. The second spot was occupied by Park Ji Hun’s “The Day I Miss You.”
As a group, Girls’ Generation’s “Kissing You” and “Girls’ Generation” placed 12th and 28th, respectively. Wonder Girls, its rival, also ranked in the chart. “Tell Me” placed 9th while “This Fool” ranked 44th.
BIG BANG’s “Last Farewell” and “Lie” placed 6th and 16th, respectively. Lee Seung Ki’s “I’ll Give You All” got to 10th place, “You Inside My Memories” grabbed the 31st spot and “Because You’re My Girl” placed 29th. Min Kyung Hoon’s “Sad Fool” ranked 11th in the chart.
SS501, which celebrates its 3rd anniversary this month, is once again restarting its activities in Japan with the release of its 3rd single album entitled “Lucky Days” on June 18.
There are 3 versions to this single that include the songs “Lucky Days” and “Summer Blue” but there is an added feature per version. One includes a DVD, the other with the Japanese version of “A Song Calling For You” and the last one with the song “Hoshizora.”
On the other hand, SS501 held last June 9 in Seoul a fan meeting especially for its Japanese fans. The quintet also has a song called “If We’re Together” included in the OST of the KBS series “Strongest Chilwoo,” which stars Shinhwa member Eric.
Shinhwa member Junjin has recently signed an exclusive 3-year contract worth 500 million won with Open World Entertainment.
Aside from pursuing a solo career in Korea, Junjin is also to be active in Japan and China. The Shinhwa member, who released his solo album in April, also expressed his desire to be recognized as an entertainer and not only as a pop idol.
Meanwhile, Junjin is planned to hold concerts in Korea and China within this year.
After the hot issue of various fan clubs boycotting Girls’ Generation during the 2008 Dream Concert, which was held last June 7, the 9-member girl group posted yesterday, June 12, a message of gratitude and apology in its official homepage.
The entry was entitled “To everyone who loves Girls’ Generation~.”
To start the message, Girl’s Generation expressed how thankful it is for the love and encouragement it has been receiving for the past 10 months since its debut.
“For a long time we dreamed of debuting.. We had our first performance and fan meeting.. the moment we placed first in a music program.. From promoting ‘Girls’ Generation’ to ‘Kissing You,’ we received so much love. These happy memories are your gift to us. Thanks to everyone.. ^^”
Girls’ Generation then continued with, “The past 10 months had valuable memories but looking back, there were moments of regret. Those moments made us a bit more mature and realize things. We sincerely apologize for the hurt we’ve caused people for the inappropriate words and actions we did.”
To cap the letter, Girls’ Generation told its fans that it is preparing something new and that they wait for it.
Byul is making a comeback in the Kpop scene with her 5th album entitled “Like a Star_Showcase,” which will be out in online music sites on the 19th.
To start promoting the release of her new album, Byul posted jacket pictures of it in her mini homepage. According to Byul, she wanted to first show these pictures to her fans who have waited for her for a year as a testament to a new stage in her music career, as she was involved in producing this album.
Who will be this year’s “Favorite Artist – Korea” award winner at the 2008 MTV Asia Awards?
The poll for this year’s winner of the said award will open on June 14 at MTV Asia Awards’ official homepage. Vying for the title of “Favorite Artist – Korea” are BIG BANG, Girls’ Generation, Wonder Girls and Super Junior. These candidates were selected through a survey among music industry officials and journalists and the winner of the award will be based on an online poll, which will end on July 25.
Previous winners of the “Favorite Artist – Korea” award were Rain, in 2005, and Se7en, in 2006.
The 2008 MTV Asia Awards will be held on August 2 at the Arena of Stars in Genting, Malaysia.
Creating a lot of interest at the moment is the news of Lee Hyo Ri and Kim Gun Mo’s duet song, which is included in the former’s 3rd album. This track was recorded with utmost secrecy and was only revealed to the public a month before Lee Hyo Ri releases her anticipated new album.
“The album is scheduled to be out in mid-July. Park Geun Tae, Kim Do Yeon and other new composers have all pitched in for Hyo Ri’s new album, which will have a different feel from what she did before,” announced an Mnet Media official.

Kara is set to be back this Summer with 5 members and not 4!
When its member Kim Sung Hee left the group to continue her studies, DSP Entertainment, Kara’s agency, held auditions to fill Kim Sung Hee’s void and another position in the group.
“By mid-July, Kara is scheduled to start its activities. The members have already been finalized,” announced DSP.
The agency also revealed that Kara is no longer going to stick with its cute girl image but will make a comeback with a new image.
